REMEMBERING THE GREAT FIRE OF '22: Join us on Sunday, November 30 at 3pm in the New Bern Library Auditorium as we commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Great Fire of 1922, which devastated New Bern on December 1, 1922, leaving over 3200 people homeless, 1000 structures destroyed and $2.5 million in financial damage. This is a FREE program and will feature the following guest presenters: Paul Switzer, Reverend Joan Hopton and James Barnes, Ethel Staten and Nelson McDaniel. Each will offer a unique perspective of The Great Fire of 1922 -- Before, During and After.

BBQ IN Blue jeans: Bring your dancing shoes! Join us for our very popular annual fundraiser on Friday, January 16, 2015. Doors open at 6:00PM and dinner is at 7:00PM. Wear your blue jeans and enjoy a great barbeque dinner from Moore's Barbeque including ribs, chicken, sides and dessert. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.

central fire station renovation campaign: The Friends of the Firemen's Museum is in the process of raising $200,000 to complete the restoration of the Central Fire Station on Broad Street to its 1928 appearance, reinterpret existing exhibits and install new interactive exhibits in the restored space. There are many exciting opportunities to name an area or an exhibit in memory or in honor of a loved one. There are also many annual membership levels that are sure to meet any budget.

 

CHILDREN'S PARTIES: Birthday Parites are a blast at the New Bern Firemen's Museum. Have your party with us and invite all your guests to have their picture taken on the 1922 Hook and Ladder Truck or the Ella Bengel firetruck. Guests will also learn the history of firefighting in New Bern, home to the oldest fire company in the State of North Carolina and then gather for cake and ice cream in the Museum's special "birthday room." Fire Safety Programs: New Bern Fire-Rescue offers a variety of education opportunities for adults, as well as children. The Fire Prevention Bureau offers Fire Extinguisher Classes, as well as a variety of lecture presentations on Fire Life Safety Education.
